IFA ESSENTIALS DEMONSTRATION
Installation Instructions

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY TO HELP YOU DURING INSTALLATION

BACKUP - Before you start please be sure to back up your system. If things go wrong you may need to restore to your original set up.

Locate the setup file you have downloaded from the Internet or been sent and double click the file to run it. If you are a novice please use these Installation Instructions during this installation. These are provided to make life easy. If you decide to 'go your own way' please be sure you know what you are doing and be careful.

Installation Process (Multi-user Server or Single-user)

This procedure is the same for the server of a multi-user (MU) configuration or a single-user setup. For the Single user (SU) you will be installing a Master configuration.
Run the setup EXE file on the Server as a MASTER Installation. This process will place the program, data, admin and help files into the folder designated by you during this process.

On the Select Destination Directory screen:
The program is referring to where the IFAEssentials folder is to be located on the Server. For MU this folder must be set to allow sharing by all those who will use the IFA system. Therefore you navigate to, and double click, the folder into which you want the system to place the IFAEssentials folder.

There are three boxes on this screen. The top will show where the installation will take place when you click [NEXT]. The bottom section is where you select on which Drive letter the folder resides. The middle section is where you navigate to the folder.

If you are installing into the root folder C:\ then the TOP box will actually show C:\IFAEssentials when you double click the C:\ folder. Don’t make the mistake of selecting the C:\IFAEssentials folder in which case the top box will repeat \IFAEssentials twice and your program will be directed to a nested sub folder of IFAEssentials.

On the Select Components screen you select MASTER Installation from the drop down list.

On the Select Start Menu Folder leave it as it is set and click [
NEXT].

On the Select Additional Tasks leave it as it is set and click [
NEXT].

On the Ready to Install screen just check that everything looks right and then click [INSTALL].

Once this is complete click [
FINISH] to complete the server installation. For SU installations you are ready to go. For MU installations you now need to run a Terminal installation on each terminal that requires access.

That’s all there is to it.

You can now start the program by clicking the desktop icon. To logon at first use the Username
admin with PW admin to get started but then read Help with regard to passwords and users. There are also three other users, Fred (fred) Peter (peter) and Tony (tony).

HELP FILES
There is extensive help on most aspects of the program. There is plenty of information in help about what's new. Please use the Help system extensively and use F1 every time to open a new form. Most forms have their own specific Help. If you cannot get your system loaded after installation you can read help directly from the IFA Essentials \ Help folder. The File is called IFAEssentials.hlp. Double click to display.

Multi-user Terminal installation

On the Select Destination Directory screen:
First you need to ensure that there is a mapped drive that points to the server where the IFA Essentials folder has been installed. The server folder must have its sharing rights set to allow read / write access for any terminals that will have access to IFA Essentials. Select this mapped drive in the lower box and navigate to the folder in which IFA Essentials is stored. If you have a mapped drive as Y: that contains the IFAEssentials folder you must double click the Y:\. Do not select Y:\IFAEssentials as this will create a new folder in IFAEssentials and will in effect have nested the folders and the installation will not work.

On the Select Components screen you select TERMINAL Installation from the drop down list.

On the Select Start Menu Folder leave it as it is set and click [
NEXT].

On the Select Additional Tasks leave it as it is set and click [
NEXT].

On the Ready to Install screen just check that everything looks right and then click [
INSTALL].

Use this same procedure on each of the Terminals you require to have access. All terminals will then be sharing the same data files and loading the same program from the server.
